American Citizens Favor Hillbilly Charlatan over Honest Politician

trumpacres

The year 2016 has been an eye opening experience for the world thanks to American politics. The overwhelming support that has been provided by American citizens towards Donald Trump, a man who confused 9/11 one of the biggest catastrophes in American history for 7/11, a franchise that has done more for diabetes than your local donut store, can be frankly astounding. This has left the rest of the world with an even larger negative view of America in general. However, what doesn’t come as a surprise is that the reasons for the support might actually be the disenchantment that is felt by the citizens of the United States towards the government establishment. As such, a hillbilly might seem to them as a viable choice for the leader of one of the greatest economic powers on earth.

It’s important to note that citizens of the United States have started realizing the fact that they have been taken advantage of by a system that could only be considered an oligarchy. Trust in the government is at an all-time low in the United States and only continues to decrease as time moves forward. A reason for this could be that major corporations have been lobbying in the government to take away the rights of citizens for close to a century only so they can deepen their own pockets. The citizens believe that by electing one of their own (a lobbyist) they will be disrupting the system from within and thus be creating what is tantamount to a black hole. If successful, the black hole created from this event will be so large that it will collapse unto itself and maybe take with it a couple of extra corporations along the way.

Sadly, this idea can be superfluous at best, when we take a closer look at everything that Donald Trump stands towards. This is a man who will say anything and everything to become elected, and half of the answers he provides could be considered nonsense to all, but his most loyal of followers; however Donald Trump still managed to secure the republican candidacy nonetheless.  Thus we must respect Donald Trump’s tenacity and survivability in this cutthroat world of politics at the least. One thing is certain, he is funding his campaign with his own money and as such we can’t say that he is in the pockets of big corporations because he is a corporation.

On the other side of the coin these same traits that are admired in Trump are the cause of scorn towards democratic nominee Senator Bernie Sanders, a man who has had close to 40 years of experience in Politics. Sanders surprisingly has no relation to the Colonel Sanders who parlayed in the business of chicken peddling and in fact denied it several times during various interviews is the representative for the state of Virginia. He has been fighting for the same rights and civil liberties that people of the United States deserve (but, have not fully obtained) for over three decades. Senator Sanders however is still trailing behind the other democratic nominee known only as the wicked witch of the west who instead represents the establishment. The odds seem stacked against him as more strange events regarding the primaries and caucuses continue to happen.

Related? You be the judge.
Missing votes, closed voting establishments, known democratic voters mysteriously having their parties switch side, and failures to re-count when the masses are asking for them are all very large red flags in a system that has started to tear at the seams.  It seems that the United States government has finally started showing its true colors. ‘For the people by the people’ has been a myth propagated by the generations for centuries, but how true can that be when the country is ruled by those who have deep pockets and even deeper connections? In a world like this of course the hillbilly candidate can appear to be the logical choice because an honest politician is a paradox that can’t simply exists. The government is the enemy and  Sanders is viewed as the enemy of the establishment. Thus the establishment seeks to eliminate Sanders’ bid for presidency. Thus, it reinforces the American Citizens’ belief that their only hope lies in the other candidate who can’t be bought by money because his pockets are already filled, but they fail to realize that because Trump is one of them, he will still favor corporations.  There is no win for the United States only revolution is left. In a country that has slowly been taking away the rights of its citizens, only blood will reignite the flames of freedom. But, how long until the American people fight back? Who can tell?

The Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave

America the so-called land of the free. But, isn’t that an ironic name for the land with the largest population of prison inmates? A land where you are free to be yourself as long as it fits “my” definition of what is normal. These definitions which are based on: bias, prejudice, obsolete laws, and an outdated book. A place where being offended by topics such as sex-ed, rape, victimization are enough to claim harassment or even sentence another to jail. We call ourselves, America the land of the free and home of the brave, but are we truly so?

I say no, we are instead America the home of the victims. Where the media and social justice warriors control the masses. A land that preaches equality as long as it favors the individual instead of benefiting the whole. Where misinformation is spread as facts, and used as a shield for controversy.  Where the life of an animal is considered more important than the lives of our brothers and sisters in Africa who endure countless losses at the hands of these beasts.  Where fear is our king and money is our god; only those with affluence matter. We call ourselves the home of freedom, yet fail to realize that we are still enslaved.

We are enslaved to oppression. We live chasing a dream that ceased to be real many moons ago. We break our backs for those who don’t care about the circumstance of our plight. We sell our souls, values, and self-worth in order to please those who could not care less about your life. We place a higher emphasis on appearances than we do on self-fulfillment. The land where you can pretend to be rich, as long as you can pay your credit-card bill. It doesn’t matter if you spend the rest of your lives paying for the son of a rich banker’s college tuition as far as it is done in monthly installments of minimum payments.

This is the land where the rich hate the poor, the poor hates the rich, and those in between are hated by all. Where the middle class pays for the wages of both rich and poor with nary an opportunity to move ahead in life. Get an education they say, but with tuition prices these days you’ll be enslaving yourself once more. Jealousy is the law of the land, if you’re not green with envy then you are wrong. Where a credit score and history are akin to your worth as a human being, and three companies can dictate whether the house you always dreamed of is a reality or a fantasy. A million is a statistic they say, but the word of one person is enough to lead another towards ruination. Yet, the plights of many go unheard everyday. The brothers and sisters we have overseas are hated because they represent a cause we do not agree with. They live their lives in fear from a world that doesn’t care, yet we are free to do so. However, as a brilliant man once said “with great power, comes great responsibility”. Yet, we shun our responsibility in favor of causes that hold no bearing towards the greater good.

America is stuck. Stuck in a state of falsehood where the voices of those who are trying to once again awaken the sleeping giant which was once feared and respected throughout the world are silenced by a multitude of sheep. Those who go against the norm are treated as outcast in a society that once claimed pride in its diversity. Where you could make it big as long as you were willing to work for it. But, that’s not the reality we live in. We live in the America that has fallen from the pedestal, that is considered a laughing-stock around the world for their  antiquated education systems, and war mongering ways. We live in the America that has become complacent, and lazy.

But, there is still hope for America. We are down, but we are not out of the fight just yet. We can once again rise to the top, and become a nation worthy of its self-proclaimed status as home of the brave. An America that is intellectually forward, which is inclusive to all in need. The America that his citizens need, but it can’t do it alone. We the people need to step in and help. We need to pull our weight in order to make everything that has gone wrong with our country right once again. At this time we the people need to put aside our differences as we did in 9/11, and join arms as brothers as sisters once more. We are not each others enemies. We are in fact our greatest potential allies, yet we need to set our differences aside to find the middle-ground, and compromise in order to finally fulfill the needs of the many, instead of the sensitivities of the few. As humans we are born with limitless potential, but we squander it in frivolous things. It is time that we took ownership of our lives, and live up to the responsibilities that our power truly brings. When we break from those chains of ignorance that bind us, then we shall be truly free.

Only then, can we once again be proud to call ourselves  “The Land of The Free, and The Home of the Brave”

The Choice of Freedom

Recently, a school in Mississippi got sued for starting an event with a prayer.  The background was that the school district had been forbidden from  “proselytizing Christianity”, and thus violated a previous ruling. But, if this was the case, how come only one student sued the district? It strikes me as extremely odd that people would go to such extremes as to sue a school simply for preaching something they don’t believe in.  This is a trend with our world in which anything can trigger a lawsuit or hurt feelings.

Lawsuits such as: https://life.indiegogo.com/fundraisers/gregory-alan-elliott-twitter-trial-support-fund

Where a father was sued over a minor dispute in twitter regarding political stances.

Or

Lawsuits where college students get accused of raped and charged with rape despite a lack of evidence.

Why was jake charged with rape
Let’s hope they weren’t also doing the reefer, cuz God knows what then.

Perhaps even a lady suing the family a teen she ran over.

It's almost like a Bad Luck Brian Meme
It’s almost like a Bad Luck Brian. Sometimes life does imitate memes, and I’m going straight to hell for this one.

Yes, we truly live in an age where freedom is hampered only by the rights of those who become offended by almost anything. Where a comment (regardless if it was racist or not) in  your own home is leaked, and you are held liable for this invasion of privacy. This is an era where Social Justice Warriors are actively looking for reasons to become offended, and the idea that we are a society of victims is always one step closer to becoming a reality.  A society where a simple question of whether mayonnaise is a gender received the following response from tumblr:

I had to double check my facts on this one, but it turns out it isn't.
I had to double check my facts on this one, but it turns out it isn’t.

Also several websites went on to address the issue.

But, I have to ask. Is this truly the society that we want to live in? A world so sanitized from potentially every little offensive thing, that we forget to tackle the important things? Things such as the economic crisis in Puerto Rico and Greece? Thankfully We’re still not there, we haven’t reached a point where everyone is afraid of saying anything that could hurt someone. But, how long do we have until we actually get to that point? Discussions become points of contention between people, comedians step on the toes of a society that used to laugh at the inanities of life, overly-sensitive individuals who put their own agenda ahead of everyone.  Everyone is seeking to silence the freedom of speech, we have been rightfully given as human beings. It is typically understood that freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequence, yet where do we draw the line at what is appropriate versus that which isn’t?

We’re quick to anger, yet terribly slow to forgive. We ask of others, and yet refuse to give back when it’s our turn. We can’t continue down this path because it will be our destruction. Humanity should strive to work together for the good of mankind, and yet it seems we become easily distracted by the most frivolous things.  Is that what we, as a society want to be known for? If our goal is truly equality, then why do we seek to oppress those whose opinions differ than ours? Wouldn’t everyone’s voices be heard in such a world? Yet, the mentality seems to be almost cultish in appearance with how prominent it is in the virtual world.  The notion that the world is to get us only leaves individuals paranoid and troubled. A government that doesn’t trust its own people, corporations lobbying for more rights at the expense of others, a war that has not stopped in over a decade (even if they say it has), the cost of obtaining a higher education, the rising cost of living versus wages, the rich becoming richer while complaining about taxes. Why aren’t these offensive? Why aren’t we being offended at the fact that these are still going on right under our noses, but we rather complain about perceive slights taken out of context (see Tumblr vs mayo).

We should be worried about the true problem in society. I’m sad to say, however that the problem is us. Those who rather sit back and complain about problems around the world, without actively going out of their way to do anything about it (even if this sounds a bit hypocritical right now). We have to strive to improve ourselves, and our country. Things will not change on their own definitely, but by blaming each other for the problems we have we’re not going to solve anything. We need to step away from our comfort zone and actively seek to change for the better. It’s not going to be easy, but nothing worth fighting for is ever easy. I hate to say that our grandparents told us so, but they did say “back in the old days, people used to work hard for their things”. While I can’t wholeheartedly believe everything the baby-boomers say, perhaps it is time we took their advice, and started striving towards a common goal.  That’s what all the major movements in this nation did, think back to the days of the great Martin Luther King Jr, or even the early beginnings of Feminism, back in the days where you were truly risking everything for equality.

It’s that time once again, where we must put our petty differences aside, and stand united once more. We must make a conscious decision to choose freedom once again. The freedom of choosing to not be offended.Martin-Luther-King-Jr-Wallpaper-HD
